CHAPTER TWELVE
Kaleen saw it, but she didnât quite believe it. She figured that vampires had a different kind of magic than sheâd ever seen before, but it was still startling to see the way he used it. Sheâd never seen anyone fade from view quite that way. It wasâ¦unnatural. Somewhat unnerving too. She shivered.
Cameron chuckled low. âDonât let him get to you, lass. I think he was just showing off a bit to impress you.â
âIt worked,â Kaleen replied honestly, still looking where the vampire had faded away.
âShall we go back to the house?â Cameron asked in a quiet tone that immediately made her think of their interrupted kiss.
Just like that, she forgot about the show-off vampire, and her blood heated with renewed desire. She definitely wanted to go back to the house and pick up where theyâd left offâif heâd play along.
She wasnât entirely sure if thatâs what heâd meant to imply. Maybe he was just suggesting going inside and going to bed. Separately.
What a disappointment that would be. After learning the truth about his kissâthat it was even better than she remembered from those first encountersâshe wanted to experience more of his passion. More of his desire. More of his lovemaking.
âYes,â she answered slowly. âLetâs.â
She held out her hand, and he took it. Was he agreeing to what she hoped he was agreeing to? Sheâd find out soon enough, when they got back to their suite.
They arrived back at the Pack house quickly. Had she been hurrying? She wasnât sure. She knew her eagerness was palpable. She wondered if he felt it too.
As they went up the stairs to the guest suite, she wasnât sure what to expect. She would be crushed if he simply said good night and went to his own bed. Alone. Yet, she didnât really know how to pick up where theyâd left off in the forest before Master Dmitri had arrived. The moment had been lost. She was afraid it had been lost forever.
She felt shy and awkward as he opened the door to the suite. She didnât know what to do to recoup the feelings theyâd shared just a few minutes before. She wasnât even sure if they were on the same wavelength anymore.
The moment the door closed behind them, Cameron swept her into his arms, and all her worries dissipated. As usual, she been overthinking things. His lips claimed hers, and then, all thoughts fled from her mind. There was only feeling. The intense desire that only Cameron had ever elicited in her. She wanted more. She wanted to see this to its logical conclusion and find out if she was right about him.
She sensed he could finally show her all the things sheâd been missing. Heâd already aroused her more than any other man she had known, and theyâd barely even gotten started. There was something so compelling about him. Soâ¦familiar, in a way. She couldnât quite explain it, even to herself.
She responded to him, allowing him to take the kiss deeper.
